Suprise Coyote Drive

This year was my first full season with WiseEye running exclusive DC2’s due to poor cell service. The DC2s have provided me consistent Intel all year to put this buck on my hit list.

The big, chocolate 8 had regularly stopped at this plot being a dominant presence. Early November, I slipped into a clover plot on my Faceoff eBike. Not long after daylight, a buck I named Droopy that I am passing this year, came in rutting hard on a doe but stayed in the brush 30 yards behind me. He kept grunting and snort wheezing to push a fork buck away that kept circling him.

All of a sudden I notice a coyote in the food plot 50 yards in front of me. He kept looking down the plot to my right, and then I realized the chocolate horned 8 was standing down there about 80 yards from me. The coyote proceeded to trot down and start circling the buck, even nipping at his feet, and ended up pushing the buck straight toward me. At 15 yards, I took the shot but clipped a small twig. After calling in a drone later that night, we found him—already being worked over by three bobcats—but still recovery.
