5th Place in ’25-’26 WiseEye Big Buck Contest

We purchased our new farm in May 2025 unsure of what caliber of bucks it held, especially after the previous owner harvested a 155” 9-point with a drop tine and the area had been hit by EHD two years prior. I ran WiseEye cameras all summer while we improved the property with water holes, clover maintenance, and five acres of beans, but mature buck activity was limited until September 25th when a shooter finally daylighted in the west clover plot. Studying WiseEye camera data showed he preferred north or east winds with cold fronts, so when a rainy north wind hit on October 28th, I made my move. After a tense first evening and a chaotic exit that nearly ruined everything, WiseEye cameras confirmed he returned unfazed. The following evening he came in again, responding to grunts and a snort wheeze; after he ducked my arrow once at 43 yards, I got a second chance at 32 yards and sealed the deal — proving patience, low pressure, and trusting the intel were key to first-year success on a tough-access farm.
